Have you heard of glamping? Glam + camping = a whole lot of outdoor fun, with cushier, comfier digs and luxe amenities regular camping just can’t compete with. Glamping comes in all flavors these days, from vintage Airstreams to quirky treehouses to huge canvas tents with soft platform beds, fabulous linens, and romantic string lighting. We’ve even met a few people who consider quaint cottages and tiny homes in spectacular outdoor settings to be glamping, and who are we to argue? Whatever your flavor of glamp, there are plenty of options within an easy drive of Phoenix. So join the glamping club and enjoy the great outdoors without giving up your creature comforts! If you’re looking for a glamping experience close to Phoenix, here are a few of our top picks:

Phoenix Raceway, Phoenix

Motorsports and glamping? Yep, at the Phoenix Raceway, you can rent a fabulous, airy canvas tent to take in the iconic raceway and the stunning Estrella Mountains. It’s the perfect glamping experience for those looking for R&R&R: rest, relaxation, and racing action. You’ll have space for your RV, fifth wheel, or travel trailer, or just bring a car and make your tent your home. No hookups, but water and pump trucks roam the grounds, so just wave them over for service. Showers are available for campers (and glampers). There are also VIP upgrades like the Infield Experience if you’re looking to plan a special getaway for your fave motorsports lover.

Vintage 1967 Airstream, Phoenix

Mad about mid-century vibes? We think you’ll dig glamping for a few nights in this vintage black and silver Airstream. Don’t worry that you’ll bake inside: the remodeled camper includes two AC units to make sure your stay is cool in every sense of the word. Expect a very cushy queen bed as well as gorgeous cotton linens. You’re also invited to borrow a cruiser bike for a jaunt through the neighborhoods nearby.

Mountain View Retreat, New River (39 mins from Phoenix)

Looking for a boutique experience? Book a few nights at Mountain View Retreat, a five-acre North Valley property that is a heavenly desert oasis with some friendly farm animal residents. The views are out of this world, and the amenities are fantastic, too, with covered patios, varied seating areas, an outdoor kitchen, water fountains, and a hot tub. Non-smoking and adult guests only, though!

Cave Creek Quiet Homestead, Cave Creek (40 mins from Phoenix)

Home to horses and chickens, Cave Creek, offers several enticing glamping options: a tranquil tent with a ready-for-you cushy queen mattress, a Cave Creek RV with a queen bed and dinette, or a bring-your-own-tent site. Each site has a seating area, a small fire pit ring, and a pair of comfy chairs, and RVs are welcome. There are also communal spaces with grills, tables, and seating around a larger fire pit. Kick back and enjoy the stars (and the quiet) at night. You might even hear the coyotes in the distance. The Cave Creek hosts also offer extras like fresh eggs and firewood (and you can rent a horse stall if you’re traveling with an XL four-legged friend).

Marguerita Ranch, Cave Creek (40 mins from Phoenix)

Hipcamp.com favorite, Marguerita Ranch, is a terrific place to park the RV or pitch your tent. The towering Saguaro cacti and stellar mountain panorama will delight glampers seeking solitude with proximity to restaurants and shops (just one mile away in the Old West town of Cave Creek). Cameras are encouraged, and horses are welcome. The privately owned ranch is home to numerous rescued horses, donkeys, and pigs who love to greet visitors. There are excellent hiking and horseback trails accessible from the ranch, and campers can choose either a campsite or a decked-out glamping trailer.

The Cozy Peach Vintage Trailer Glamping, Queen Creek (47 mins from Phoenix)

Immerse yourself in Schnepf Farms by staying at “one of the largest displays of vintage Airstreams, Spartans, Silver Streaks, and more” in Arizona! These refurbished digs are an excellent way to enjoy the experience of camping, but with the luxuries a hotel has to offer. During your stay, The Cozy Peach provides plush bedding, a private fire ring, a TV with Netflix, a kitchen stocked with plates and dinnerware, a personal gas grill, and more! All of these amenities elevate this farm stay experience to something you won’t forget! To enhance your stay, they offer private dinners, breakfast delivery, and private animal feeding for an additional fee.

TinyCamp, Sedona (2 hrs from Phoenix)

The Sedona cliffside village of TinyCamp should have been named TinyGlamp: Eco-conscious, bite-sized homes charm guests with modern interiors and top-notch finishes. Luxe bathrooms, private fire pits, a kitchen with essentials, Bluetooth speakers, and outdoor showers mean you’ll enjoy the gorgeous surroundings in total comfort. Spacious, private decks are provided for sunset viewing (and yoga, if that’s your thing). Wifi is top-notch, so you’ll never feel that far away (unless you want to). You can opt-in for curated experiences tailored to your party or simply unplug and disappear. Miles and miles of gorgeous hiking and Sedona culture are just a stone’s throw away, too. What’s not to love?

Conestoga Covered Wagons, Williams (2 hrs and 40 mins from Phoenix)

Take a trip back in time with a covered wagon glamping experience at KOA Conestoga Covered Wagons. Immerse yourself in old-west vibes while sleeping in the comfort of a king bed and two sets of bunk beds with the whole family (sleeps up to 6 people). While there is no kitchen or private bathroom, there is air conditioning, a fire ring, a picnic table, a wood grill, tables and chairs, and a mini fridge. Fresh linens are provided, so you get to feel like you’ve traveled through history without all the ruggedness of real life back then. No pets are allowed, so be sure to leave four-legged family members at home for this glamping retreat.

Shash Diné Eco Retreat A Glamping B&B, Page (4 hrs and 22 mins from Phoenix)

Shash Diné was “built to accommodate guests year-round to provide a peaceful, unique Navajo cultural experience.” This truly unique Arizona destination is a “glamping” bed and breakfast on the Navajo Nation with “unobstructed views of Lake Powell, the Echo Peaks, and the Vermillion Cliffs.” Accommodations include bell tents, a bell tent suite, sheepherder wagons, and a small cabin. Drinking water, candle lanterns, books, games, and toiletries are included, as well as a “hiker’s” breakfast served every morning. Pack sunscreen, clothing layers, closed-toed shoes, and a hat, and you’re sure to have a memorable time exploring the culturally rich lands. To experience the retreat to the fullest, book one of their tours or deluxe packages with your stay, and then relax by the large fire pit while cooking under the stars.
